Pickled Humpty Dumpty!
The pupils of Fifth and Sixth Class conducted a week-long experiment into the effect of various acids and liquids on egg shells. We tested eggs in four different conditions: white vinegar, lemon juice, Coca Cola and water (a control condition). We found that the first three liquids softened and dissolved the egg shells. The egg in water remained unaffected.

Magnetism in 5th and 6th Class
The pupils of Fifth and Sixth Class have been learning about magnets! We learned how to create a simple compass using a bowl of water, a cork and a magnetised needle!
SCIENCE WEEK
Science Week took place from 13th November 2017 - 19th November 2017. The children had lots of fun experimenting. The Conversation Table reflected the various elements of the primary school science curriculum such as energy & forces, magnetism, light, electricity, sound, environmental awareness & care and living things.
5th and 6th class welcome a guest scientist!
In December, 5th and 6th Class were lucky to receive a visit from a scientist from Junior Einsteins! We made slime, learned about electricity, blasted an air bazooka and more!
Space Week 2017 was out of this world!
Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed Space Week 2017 at Edmondstown NS! Ms. Wallnutt’s Junior and Senior Infant Class created a wonderful rocket display while Third and Fourth Class designed an amazing solar system.
As part of our participation in the national Space Week 2017 programme, Edmondstown NS also received a unique image of the moon from Blackrock Castle Observatory!
